Employagility – Future-proof your kid’s career so they thrive in the 21st century

Do you and your kid’s know the 4 steps to ensure income success in the future of work? These days you need to be agile and flexible when it comes to work, and you really should manage your career like you would a business. Your kids are going to need novel & adaptive thinking, social intelligence and a design mindset to thrive. They should be learning and using crucial digital citizenship skills and employagility to ensure they shine bright in the future.

They need to take or create opportunities NOW and use new media to hone their skills, build, manage and protect their online reputation. There is no reason why they can’t be makers right now and generate income doing something they love. Welcoming in people to the new realities of the world of work is a task many schools have failed to achieve over the past decade. Let’s face it, who still works for 30 years in the same company?

Jobs that exist now may not even exist in 10 years. Futurists are compiling skill sets that will be essential for all of our economic survival, yet the public education establishment appears oblivious to their work. Imagine your children with the confidence of being able to flex their skills, experience and creativity to ensure a steady stream of multiple incomes now and in the future. Imagine they are following their passions and loving the work they do.

The new mission of schools is to prepare students to work at jobs that do not yet exist, creating ideas and solutions for products and problems that are yet to be identified, using technologies that have not yet been invented. We must teach our way out. Linda Darling Hammond, 2012 (Professor of Education at the Stanford University School of Education)

We set out to master the very core life skills and beliefs your kids are going to need to thrive, be good digital citizens and enjoy their working lives. These learning snacks are your kid’s pre-work. Suggest they watch these on the way to and from school or while they are waiting in line for something, otherwise they may miss out on the ‘Big Picture’. Alternatively you could watch a video or the entire snack box when you are hanging out as a family and share the learning with them before they come to the event.
